Speech and Language Therapy Services for School Age Children
A common factor in many children who have special educational needs is an underlying language difficulty. Many children respond to specific speech and language therapy. Their improvement may be reflected in both learning and behaviour.
Children may be seen for therapy at our clinic or in school, depending on a range of factors.
Where required, relevant equipment and worksheets will be provided for both school and home. We will ensure that the school has access to reports and letters written about the child, providing parents give their permission.
Where possible we will attend case discussions or Statement/EHCP Review Meetings about the child. We will liaise with teaching staff to contribute to the child’s Individual Education Plan.
ISLTS can contribute to the EHCP process.
If we see children in school, we always liaise regularly with parents.
We offer individual and group support for parents and school staff on a range of relevant topics.
We will liaise with other health and education professionals as appropriate (with parent/carer permission).
Please contact us to discuss your school-age needs.
